WS6: Lid/SSRA or Volant/FIPK
WS6: Lid/SSRA or Volant/FIPK
I see the debate on here all the time and never a real clear answer with regards to the SS and WS6. If I just had a T/A I think it would be an easier choice and just go with a lid and SSRA.
Re: WS6: Lid/SSRA or Volant/FIPK
the ws6 hook works great with volant and just the hood since your ram air hood works 1000000 times better than the ss hood.
for and ss it would be better using a lid/ssra since the hood gets the air and then wraps it around and then finally gets into the air lid

Re: WS6: Lid/SSRA or Volant/FIPK
i have a 2000 camaro ss and i am deffinitially going to get the volante intake soon because it looks like it really uses the ram air abilities of the special hood to make some extra power at higher speeds. Ya go with the volante
Re: WS6: Lid/SSRA or Volant/FIPK
You could also check into the "BG Ram Air." Don't know if it's still around, but it's a little more economical way of sealing the lid to the hood. I know the Volants can be a little pricey.
Re: WS6: Lid/SSRA or Volant/FIPK
Ok, I just went outside and checked out the whole ram air setup I have up close. I am sure others have noticed that the ram air isn't a straight shot. It is dark outside but I put my hand up there and it seems like there is this type of passage for the air to travel going on.

air________| _ Lid
Seems like this is pointless. Has anyone know of people cutting out the blockage so that it is a straight shot? Seems like it would be a whole lot more efficient.

Yeah, you can find some write-ups about removing the baffles in the hood on different boards. From what I remember, you want to drill out the rivets holding them in place before trying to remove them. The are glued in, so they will take a tug or two to get out.
