Patriot heads?

Patriot heads?
Any opinions on patriot heads? I am considering them along with Edelbrock, Dart, and I think RHS is about about to release some bare heads that I would assemble with comp cams parts. What do you guys think? Cost is a factor, but not the deciding factor. I am going wih either a 216/220 or 222/224 cam with some std. bolt ons, headers, exhaust, intake, etc...

Re: Patriot heads?
i would go with something like the dart 205s.
with those cam choices, you'll be building good power in the low and mid range. may as well take advantage of it with the smaller runner heads. no need for something that flows like crazy in the high rpm.
check out TSP...they are listing some ported Darts for around $1500 i think

Do not go overboard with the runner size, you'll slow your port velocity and loose power.

Re: Patriot heads?
Just a curious question what makes a "BIG" cam and what makes a "small" cam ? I hear people mention this just wanted to know, thanks. Pretty much what I'm wanting to know is what specs divides the two cams.

Re: Patriot heads?
thats kindda like asking what makes a "average looking woman" different from a "great looking woman"....there is no defined line.
but as a general rule that i've seen:
<220 is a small cam
221-230 is a mild cam
>230 is a big cam
>240 is insanity

The larger the engine the more cam that you need to fill the cylinders. A >230 is a small cam in a 408. It's all about air in air out.
