something like the tsp Torquer 2 or the Futral F14...or maybe the high lift F14 that kraest now has...seems to put good numbers down (no surprise).
THAT sounds great. I was hoping to keep this whole operation around 2000-2500...idk how much the labor would be for all of it; i realllly need to sell my v6 so i can get this stuff going!

So this type of head (looks like casting 862 right?), after being ported would work swell? What other parts would I need to go along with that 228/228 cam? I hear talk of things like rods and rockers and springs and whatnots...would these heads be completely ready to "bolt in" (although i know its more complicated than bolting on.........) this seems better than $900-1500 for brand new heads, though i would still need to get them ported $$$ Thanks!!

I can't see that link here at work, but you're better off getting a heads and cam package from a single company. You can buy literally everything you need for the head and cam swap. You get assembled heads (with springs), cam, pushrods, gaskets and bolts, timing chain and oil pump for under $2000. Reuse the stock rocker arms. But you'll still need to do the usual bolt-ons first. Then you'll have to factor in the cost of getting everything tuned. As far as your budget goes, how much can you afford, parts and labor? That will determine whether or not you go full bolt-ons, bolt-ons and cam, or a full bolt-on head and cam setup. Labor may be a bit cheaper, as you may be able to talk one of the service guys like Jason into helping out.

If you're looking at under $2500 including labor, it looks like heads will be out of the question. You can do the usual bolt-ons, cam, and tune with labor for that price, but you'll need to pick your parts very wisely.

You'd need a REPUTABLE place to port them as well as the hardware to support the aftermarket camshaft.... Upgraded Springs, retainers, seats, locks, hardened pushrods, LS2 timing chain, ported oil pump, etc.

my budget=what i sell my v6 camaro for...trying to get about 7000 out of it but its been for sale ever since i bought this z28 over a month ago! of course, I don't want to spend ALL of the 7000... but if i had to spend like 3000 then that would be alright

"I've never priced getting a used stock head ported locally, but a reputable shop that knows what they are doing with an LS1 head is likely going to be $600-800+ minimum. That's hand ported, as most shops that can CNC port (CNC is a computer port head) won't work with a used head. And depending upon where you are, you're going to have to ship the heads back and forth, and will need to expect weeks of downtime. That's why most people just buy the heads outright. OR you could find some already ported heads that someone has for sale - I do "

marc, have you still got those heads you mentioned?

I am buying my intake today! Speed Eng. gave me quotes for the 92mm intake and throttle body; sound good? but my question is...will i need new fuel rails or do the stock ones work fine for this intake you think? i will most likely upgrade the injectors later...the stockers may be alright but since i'm in there anyway maybe i'll get some 36#'s to help lighten the load...new pump required for those? Thanks~

Is that the FAST 92mm intake? I hope its not the Professional Products... You don't need new rails for that intake nor your engine or power goals. You'll probably be OK with the stock injectors and fuel pump, but the injectors will be working quite hard to keep up. You won't really know for sure until you get it tuned. If you need more injector, get some Ford SVO 30# injectors (red top).

Again, if that is the FAST 92, do you mind saying how much they want for it? Because I just got one for $890. That price including porting and shipping!
