Or you could grab a cup, glass, or bottle of you favorite beverage, sit down and read every post on the first few pages of this section. Then use the search function and look for more info on things that interest you.

Yes lids add HP to our cars. It's usually the first mod people do along with a catback exhaust. Allows more air into the motor which creates more HP. The difference in the Z28 and SS is mostly cosmetic, SS got the hood and spoiler along with a better exhaust and springs, but as for performance they are the same. And yes, make use of the search feature on here, it will answer a lot of your questions. Nice looking car you got there.

Nice looking indeed.

What's your location? Maybe somebody would be willing to help you out if they are close by.

Ok, you don't even have a lid and you have your car listed in your sig as being 330hp?

I'm sure thats to the fly. And all ls1's bone stock have about 340-345 to the crank anyway. So he just underrated himself. No biggie

Yes, but who puts a HP # in their sig for a car that apparently has never been dynoed?

Setting the standard at going off what others have done, I could claim ~380 whp based on what other people have dynoed w/similar set ups or calculate hp at the fly say ~430 hp. I could also claim that I could run 12.9X stock and 11's with my current set up since people have, but I don't. When asked, I just tell people I haven't dynoed or been to the track w/the current set up yet. IMO don't claim it unless your car has done it.

Just about anybody who works hard to mod their cars and spends the money to verify hp numbers doesn't care for people who post bullcrap guess numbers in their sig. like they are real numbers.

As stated before if you know the numbers then fine. If you don't know them then don't guess. It's not a sin not to know. I had my car for years before I dynoed it, not a big deal.

if you dont have a this lid in your car get it!! then look into a cold air scoop, also by slp. it all makes a difference in HP.

there are better cai setups for the LS1 than the SLP unit....SSRA is probably the best.

but in all reality...his SS hood is fine for now i would say.

as for a lid:

a lid is a lid is a lid....they all function about the same. the biggest difference is appearance and cost. go with what you like or can afford.

the advantage of the lid is that they don't have the small plastic "fins" or "ribs" inside like the stock unit. which allows for smoother flow. also the outlet of the lid is much more open and free flowing than the stock unit.

the lid doesn't really "Allows more air into the motor which creates more HP"....its more like it allows less restricted flow of air into the engine, which allows it to work more efficiently...thus increasing hp.

typical dyno gains with a lid are about 7rwhp...give or take 1hp.

don't let the sqwabling above me discourage you from asking more questions.
