would a 3000 stall be good for my 373 gears for my Ls1?
would a 3000 stall be good for my 373 gears for my Ls1?
My car is a daily driver and the engine is stock only mods i have done is 373 gears and slp loud mouth exhaust. Iam on a tight budget and looking to get the tci 3000 stall because of the price.. Would this 3000 stall work well with my 373 gears?
Re: would a 3000 stall be good for my 373 gears for my Ls1?
It will definitely help you out. However, unless you invest in stickier rubber, you'll have trouble getting that power to the pavement. Also, a trans. cooler is a must when doing a stall. G/L

Yes it will work real well with 3.73's. Your gonna be amazed at how tight it feels. Like previously stated the big downside here is the 2.2 STR coupled with 3.73's is going to make traction on the street impossible. You'll have to give 1/2 - 3/4 throttle at any speed under 35 or you'll just smoke the tires. Even drag radials only help a little on the street because they only hook well when heated and lets face it, we can't be doing 8 second burnouts at every red light
If you could spend a little more money Yank is coming back with the SY3500. It's a 3500 stall with a 1.6 STR which makes it the most street and street tire friendly converter out there. But they won't be ready for shipping until may 2nd I think. Plus they're around $850 and you said your on a tight budget. TCI 3000 + Drag Radials are about $750 total so it's still cheaper to go that route. Just make sure you get a trans cooler because it is a MUST with any aftermarket converter.
It'll take a little getting used how to launch without blowing the tires up but it's well worth it. Your gonna love the TCI 3000. It'll be like a whole new car.
