won't run WTF
won't run WTF
Ok its been cold here lately and the car has sat
for 4 days. I get in it and it fires up has about half
the sound of idle(no where near the start up roar)
and dies after 2 seconds repeatedly. I pop the hood
turn the throttle linkage a bit and try it and it runs.
Was my TB stuck. I never had this happen on any
of my LS1's even after sitting longer. The lights and
accersorys were working so battery was good and it
cranked like normal.
Any input??

If it started once you moved the throttle, potentially it's the TPS (throttle position sensor). I remember the TPS screwed up in my mom's Jeep Grand Cherokee and it wouldn't stay running unless you kept your foot on the gas so that it was just above idle.
Next time your car does this, try pressing the gas pedal just a little bit and it should work. Also, just because the TPS is faulty doesn't necessarily mean it'll set any codes.
HTH?

Upon starting the signal from the TPS isnt necessarily valid. The car is running a startup sequence which is throttle position independant (the TPS will override the startup sequence) which is why you car revs to more than idle for a few seconds after startup. A car should run without a tps... the computer should be able to run the car using the signal from the MAP/MAF (in the case of the LS1) and other sensors. My wrangler ran without the TPS for a while when i didnt hook it up after replacing a motor mount... didnt see i disconnected it.
Didnt run well, but it ran.
Anyways, if you cant figure something else out might want to disconnect and reconnect the batt... maybe just a brain fart on the cars part?

Well first I started it like normal, clutch in let in out
after turn over and it clunked out. did this 2-3 times.
Then I tried to hurry over and tap the gas same result.
The sound is the strange part, it sounded like I
started a Cavalier.
Then as I said I manually turned the throttle body
extenally-by the cable.
It started and ran fine ever since.
