221/221 .558/.558

Are the LS6 springs good for nearly .600" lift? Would an LS1 be RPM limited by these springs?

I know they're better springs out there, but I'm a poor college student.

you could probably use them, I think they're good to 570 or 580 inches of lift- i don't think 600, but I could be wrong. Anyway I think that cam has fast ramp rates which will put more stress on the springs, and thus need changing sooner. THe LS6 cam has 551 lift so I can't see why 7 thousands more lift wouldn't work, although I would go with something stronger just to be on the safe side. The company you get the cam from would know for sure. I think the original grind was from Lunti, you could call them to find out as well.

ls6 sprins can lift up to 570. at $6.95 EACH ($111.20 for 16) you would be better off going with comp's 918 springs for about $180 from summit(or cheaper somewhere else)

there are places that sell the ls6 springs for 50 bucks a set. The company I plan to buy them from has them that cheap as well as cheap cams (crane) at 305 bucks and 350 for some grinds. Its a Gm dealership non sponsor, but I'm sure there are other sponsors that can get them for that price.

Re: Will these LS6 springs work with the B1 cam?

I've heard several reports back in the day when this came up in the early 2000's that people were floating valves with the b1 cam and ls6 springs when going into the 6k range. I would go ahead and stick with 918's. Apparently the b1 is alot more aggressive than the ls6 cam.

Peace,
Josh

Re: Will these LS6 springs work with the B1 cam?

The LS6 springs have changed since 2000 to be able to handle the higher lift of the newer LS6 cam. IIRC the LS2 springs are the same. They will handle the B1 cam. Lingefelter uses them for their GT2-3 which has a .571/.578 lift and GT2-5 .566" lift and this is even in engines they build and warranty. There are guys over on tech who are running this combo w/no prob.

And yes, SDPC has them for ~$56. They have the LS2 timing chain cheap too.

ANY time you do a cam change you need to change your stock push rods. They're weak as is it.

Look in your local area forums and see if anyone has some used ones. I've seen them go from $60 on up.

BTW, you're not too poor if you're doing a cam change. If you were REALLY poor you'd sell it to buy food. lol

The B1 is a sweet little cam. I'd run one! Do a search on tech if you haven't already. There are some impressive cam only times/HP #'s.
