Will an LT1 T56 work with an LS1?
Will an LT1 T56 work with an LS1?
Getting ready to start my 4l60e - T56 swap on my LT1, but I was think, since i am going through all the work why not put a worked LS1 in there.
I just dont want to go through the trouble of gathering another T56 swap kit.

Re: Will an LT1 T56 work with an LS1?
They are different. Besides what Mark said, I believe the slave cylinder is mounted on the outside of the bell housing on LT1 T56's and inside on the LS1 T56's. It's a complete PITA to swap out an LS1 slave cylinder.
Re: Will an LT1 T56 work with an LS1?
It can be done, requires a new mid-plate, bellhousing, and input shaft. Easier to just pick up a LS1 trans, or get a hold of the place in texas that does T-56 trans and do a trade-in. I believe the pedals will work, but you will need a different MC as well.

For those who do get interested in doing a LS1 conversion on a LT1 T56......
Home of Tranzilla - Rockland Standard Gear, Inc.
Call those guys and ask about part number "LT1/LS1". The kit should come with a LS1 T56 front cover, bearing shims, and LS1 T56 input shaft. The GMHTP article reports that the kit is $398.00.
