Why would my crank pulley wobble? HELP!
Why would my crank pulley wobble? HELP!
Well, I'm trying to fix my power steering leak tonight (that's another thread in the regular fbody forum) when I noticed something odd.
All of my accessory pullies rotate nicely about their axis, but my crank pulley seems to have a slight wobble. I looked at the center of the assembly and noticed the crank bolt seemed to be rotating slightly off from the center of where it should be.
I, at first, started assuming the worst, but I'm guessing (hoping) this is one of those too bad to be true things. It might be my imagination, but I really don't think it is. I have always had a noticable vibration at ~1800, but I attributed that to the polyurethane transmission mount.
Anyone? Looks like the crank bolt could be 50 thousands or so off from rotating where it should be.

Spinning this out-of-round assembly to 6000+ could not have been too good for my bottom end. :blah:
