Why are rockers so expensive for LS1?

You can buy a set of quality roller rockers for 5.0 Mustangs for less than $200.00. I haven't seen a set yet for LS1 for less than $400.00.

The different designs for both look almost the same so manufacturing costs should be about the same.

It's not just rockers ... everything for the LS1 is comparitvely expensive ...

It's not manufacturing cost that drives pricing, it product demand and return on investment ... there're just not as many LS1s as there are Mustangs ... therefore less demand, in order to get an equivalent return on the manfacturing investment, higher prices need to be charged.

Prices are starting to come down ... a few years ago the only rockers market would have run you closer to $700 than $400,
you were lucky to find a lid for less than $120. The only headers available were around a grand. And a set of ported heads ran you at least $2500 with a $700 core charge.

Now for the $2500, you can get your lid, headers, the heads and the core charge will be $300 or less.

Cam prices still suck though

Yeah, that's pretty much it. You can't really compare parts for a motor that's only been out for 5-6 years to a motor that's been around for over 15 years. It takes time for prices to drop but they will and they do.

I remember back around '99 or so when MTI released their first lid, they were going for something like $220.

I agree, they're not cheap but for the gains, it's not that bad.
