Exclamation OK...Where did the put the FREAKIN Flasher?!

Can someone tell me where they put the Turn Signal Flasher Relay in a 98 Camaro SS and how to get to it? If anyone knows I would love a quick response. Car has to go in for inspection Monday morning!

Thanks,

Ric

should be under the steering wheel near your right knee when you drop the panel down.

What he said. Look all the way to the right center with a flash light. It's kinda hard to see but it's there.

Unhappy

Hmmm maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing. The replacement part I have is round and about the size of half a "C" size battery..... does the OEM part look the same?

Yes, it looks the same as the oem part. I had the same trouble finding it my first time as you are. Get a flash light and get ALL the way under there and you will see it. It is almost hidden. it's parallel to your gas pedal.

Angry

Thought I had it, but it was just harness connector. Got frustrated and just quit last night....hopefully I'll find it this morning.

Ok...I have both panels off under the driver side dash. Is it above the Gas? Brake? or Clutch? Closer to the firewall or closer to the front of the dash? Is it high in the dash behind the instrument cluster or around steering column level? If its behind the instrument cluster its hopeless cause my hands won't fit way up there and I'm not tearing the whole dash apart.

Talking

Ok....Next time I'm paying a mechanic to do it If anyone else runs into this problem with a 1998 Z28 or SS the Flasher Relay is located under the left side of the driver's dash almost behind the Headlamp switch. You only need remove the first dash panel immediately under the steeringwheel column. There is a main wireing harness there and a metal support bracket immediately to the left. Reach over the metal support bracket (I could only get about 3 fingers in there) The flasher is held in place by an open metal snap bracket, you just pop it out and pull it through the metal brace. Mine was wrapped in electrical tape. Unwrap the tape on the round part to where you see the connector, pop off the old flasher, re-tape it and put it back into the metal clamp. Test it before re-assembling the dash.

Ta-Dah, new signals and emergency flashers

Wow,
Way to find it. Mine is on the right side.
Sorry to give you bad info , but at least you were in the right area.
That metal steering column plate can be removed. I unbolte mine and threw it away for weight savings. If your worried about bieng in an accident and feel that you need it for safety then I would recommend leaving it in.

Take care
Mike
