I change the oil just before and just after an open track weekend.

I put 7 qts in with a new filter and usually run about 400 miles on the road course during a weekend.

I then change it and put back 6 qts with a new filter until the next course event. That's usually about 1000 miles or so.

I also use Havoline 10W30. Fossil and synthetics have very little difference in their lubricating makeup in the first part of their respective lives. I change it so often, there's no real benefit from what a synthetic can provide.

And 92/93 octane always. I buy it from only a couple of stations that I know has filters and water traps installed. I believe that is more important than octane rating.

 

My car always gets the best gas too. The only thing I haven't done yet is switch to synthetic oil.

I use 87 octane and I change my oil every 7,000 miles. Wait, that's my CRX POS cars are cheap and fun!

you guys are crazy, if you use mobil 1, you only really should change every 5-7k miles., changing oil every 1500 miles is a waste, it really is, if you want good engine performance just go with mobil 1 every 5,000 miles. I like sythetic because you only have to take it to the shop half as much, so your paying less manpower and saving. the oil cost about twice as much but it is better for the car. plus it is an inconvience to change oil, it's a mess, it's dirty, all that.
