Why go CHEAP!
Why go CHEAP!
Why would anyone take a chance and go cheaper on gas? I would have never bought my TA if I was going to try and save a buck. I use nothing but 93 octane. Just light my oil. I use synthetic and it is changed every 1500 miles. There will never be dirty oil in my LS1 as long as I own it.

I always use 93 and change my oil at 2,000 miles.
Why go cheap?!
Why waste so much money?!
Seriously...............I love my car and all, but until I got my HPP and the car absolutely required 92-94 octane, I ran 87 all the time without any trouble. Considering most of my driving is just back and forth to work on the highway 1/2 hr each way, there was no problem using 87 IMO. Now with the HPP I've gotta run premium though.
In regards to oil?? If GM wants me to change it every 3,000 miles / 5,000 kms for warranty, that's good enough for me. Heck, once I actually missed the 5,000 km change (middle of winter --- too cold
) and ya know what?.............the car still starts and runs every day as good as the day before
. Change your oil every 1,500 if you want, but that's just wasting a bunch of oil IMO
. Somewhere you've gotta draw the line between smart "preventative maintenance" and smart "economical/financial sense".

wll idk about you but i'll admit i drive the hell outta my car so i'll change it every 1000-1200 miles and guess who taught me to change it that often!?! GRANNY did, she used to change hers ALLLLL the time when she had a lead foot in her old 79 monte carlo and she said sh used to change the oil in her 67 SS camaro like every 2 months (she drove it off the lot)
i also use the highest gas i can find and when i'm in a playing mood i'll put some 99 octane in it
. nothing like the smell of 99 octane in the morning!

Tests have proven there is almost no extensive dirtiness to oil on a well running car, until the 4000 mile mark or thereabouts, then the additives in oil start going south and affecting multi viscocity oils.
I would generally hope a decently maintained vehicle should easily see 200k miles on stock internals, many cars have done over 500k, although who would run that many miles on an LS1 before going 382 or rebuilding for more power? So, I dont think its practical.
