why does my LS1 trap like ****?
as u can see from my sig, i've gotten my car into the low 12s so far but the car's performance is ALL in the first 1/8th mile or so...
1.70 60 foot
7.85 1/8th mile at 85.91 mph
12.33 1/4 mile
107.59 mph
this is only a gain of about 21.5 mph in the second half of the pass.....isn't the general rule like 24-25 mph gain (all mods in sig)?
im setting up an appointment for a dyno tune in two weeks at my clubs dyno day but who knows if they'll figure out if anything is wrong and if so,what.
anyone have any input on why my LS1 falls on its face up top???

108 mph does seem low considering you're running 12.3? Hell, even running 13.4, I still trapped 106, and that's with 2.73's?!
The only possibility *maybe* (based on something I read on here not long ago) is that high stall converters sometimes rob a car of top speed on a 1/4 mile run? Maybe if you had the "perfect" combination of engine horsepower + 100% correct stall + "perfect" gear combination, you would see the ultimate best results, but maybe 3400 is too high? or maybe 3.42's are not low enough?? or?????????????????? The possibilities are endless.
IMO though, I wouldn't worry too much about it. All that having a low time but slower speed means that you're putting your power to the ground, and keep in mind, SPEED doesn't win a race, TIME (how "quick" you are) DOES. I'd like to be running 12.3's, so a big 's up for that!

Actually man, 107.5 is right on where your '98 should be IMO...
Besides a lid, all you really have to generate extra horsepower is your full exhaust set-up...
And you're doing this with bigger, heavier wheels too...
But I think the reason your car isn't trapping any higher is because you have a fairly big stall converter(in which case, most don't ever net any MPH increase and sometimes sacrifice MPH efficiency on the top-end as compared to how hard they get you out of the hole).
Seriously, your LS1 is fine, and running a 12.3 is badA$$ for what you've done to it so far. Just add an LS6 intake, remove some weight, and put skinnies/slicks on it and you'll be running high 11's @ 111-113 in cool weather.
I'd worry a lot more about my ET's than my trap speed with your A4...

i think your trap is low.i run slower than you and i trap consistent 109s and have trapped 110.even with a 1.7 60 i think you should be trapping 5mph higher.im no expert but id say you need a tune.it woke my car up big time.

i know manual cars always trap higher i was just wondering if something wasn't right considering my friend just ran a 13.02 at 107.6 in his 01 SS with minimal mods....
anyone wanna shoot me an idea for a mod that will particularly add high end power? (and i dont mean spray )
