They are practically the same. I will put my vote in for the TSP because it looks the best. The gains are practically the same, if not identical.

i plan on getting the tsp lid and ftra. but i hear that the only downfall of the ftra is that if it rains it will get all jacked up. is that true?

I suppose you're refering to hydrolock. Which is when water goes into the engine. The FTRA and similar induction devices can allow this to happen if you drive through a moderately deep puddle.

There have been several threads about this recently. Do a search.

What year car ya got? If you have the air tube going into the stock lid you might want to consider an SLP lid. I believe they are the only one with provisions for this. If not I'd go with the TSP lid. As far as cold air kits go I'd get the Super Sucker(SSRA). That FTRA is a PIA to install from what my friend said, and it made his car run hot.

It's real easy to tell. If you got a three pedals hanging below the steering wheel you have a M6. If you only have two pedals hanging then it's a A4.

All after market CAI's (SLP, FTRA, SSRA) can expose your car to the possibility of hydrolock. However, all can be used safely if you make a blockoff plate and use it whenever it rains. It takes less then five minutes to put it in and then you are running stock again but with some piece of mind. So if it's gonna rain Mon, Tues and be nice the rest of the week then block it off Sunday night and unblock it Wednesday morning. If you get caught in a sudden downpour then pull over and install the blockoff plate.

If you want to get an after market CAI then I reccomend SSRA. All the others draw cooler air from the front of the radiator but do not produce a RAM AIR affect. FTRA is slightly better as it does give a small ram air affect at high speeds but the downside is you have to install a plate on your radiator which will make your car run hotter.

SSRA is different. It is a two piece box scoop that runs down on a slope next to the radiator and then hooks under the front of the car. you attatch the bottom of the second box unit to the bottom of your front bumper. This draws air from OUTSIDE the car! Now the air is not only colder then the other kits but it is true RAM AIR as the faster you go the faster the air is sucking through the box scoops and raming into your engine. At 60 MPH and above you are gaining 13+ HP with this unit.

Hands down SSRA works the best. It costs a little more but is well worth it. And you can make a foam insert that you can put in the bottoom scoop when it rains which is even faster and easier then a blockoff plate.

As far as a lid goes I like the TSP. They claim 7 RWHP over the compitition which I doubt is true but if I can gain 1-3hp over a slp lid then it's worth the extra 30-50 bucks. The carbon fibre one looks awesome and is usually in stock so I would and did go with TSP and SSRA. No regrets here

Good Luck with whatever you decide.
