Question Whisper Lid

I'm thinking about getting a Whisper Lid.

Is there a website that sells these?

Do those of you who have one see a noticeable difference in power, gas mileage and acceleration?

I was thinking about doing that free ram-air thing, but I don't want to cut anything.

Do you think I'll have any luck selling my old airbox?

The lid/ram air combo is a great combo..

I would search our FS section first and the www.ls1.com and www.ls1tech.com for lid's before you buy from a vendor/shop.. Just a lot cheaper IMO

People gain about 5-10 RWHP with just an addition of a lid. Enough to feel a difference? Yeah, maybe a little. Its once you start combining many little mods you feel the difference. Dont expect to spend 150 bucks and have a completely different feeling car.

As for selling your stock unit, not really.

For whatever it's worth... the Whisper is a particular Lid made by Whisper Motorsports. I put one on my wife's 3800 and I don't like it. It looks cheap and didn't fit very well. The one on my Z is from SLP and it fit much better and looks good (and was cheaper).

I'm sure there are other better Lids out there as well.

Just my 2 cents.

I was pretty satisfied with my lid. I bought the carbon-fiber whisper lid and it fit perfect. A lid's a lid though. Whatever you get, you really can't go wrong.

Don't get a Whisper lid because there well know to not fit right and crack. I have a Direct Flow from www.LS1motorsports.com and it fits well. Also don't get a clear lid if your thinking at all about them because they crack as well. The SLP unit is cool to because I think it looks better and if yours is a 01-02 model the air pump hose has a stock like place in the side of the lid for that to plug in. If your not gonna ever do the free ram air mod or the FTRA I would consider getting a K&N FIPK or Violant unit. There a lot more $ at $270-300 but they give more about 6 more hp at the wheels on average and you don't have to worry about then not sealing right. With lids even the stock one small leaves and debris get but the lid and stuckup against the mass air screen.

New Lid Information

You can check out dyno results of the new lid vs. the competitors' lid HERE. I think the numbers speak for themselves!

I havnt had fitment issues at all fits/seals just fine.Sure as heck am not getting leaves and crap on the Maf no cracks..huh. Its clear that its sealed when I do maintenance b/c I check for things like this. But maybe some have had probs not 2 of mine.Could be got put on wrong.

And Lid(any lid)is better w/ the FTRA. But as blacknight said the FIPK would be about the same and when you add up lid,K&N or Holley,FTRA its about the same price as FIPK...just the FTRA shines while cars in motion.
I've recently thought I wanted to ask a FIPK owner if the filter of FIPK rests in the area of old filter tray...Thought was if so maybe try the FIPK installed over the FTRA duct hmm

though my lid is no state of the art design it fits fine and hasnt cracked.as far as other induction kits im not sold that they justify the extra money.just get what you can get the best price on they all will give you similar gains.

got put on wrong.
The front part of lid rests in a groove/channel recess of air box, with rear tabs fully inserted and filter tray in correct position it goes all ways only one is correct. One lid I've been using for 2yrs no probs, but when I first installed the this 1st one did so incorrectly and had happen to me what you've described.Sure the heck didnt drive around w/it like that I figured how it goes together correctly before driving. These probs make no sense to me lol...The only one I can think of is it made my 3800 II sound like its sucking big time totally audible suctiony sound.

SFB767,get the cheapest(Ithink SLP) lid they're all the same & Holley proshot,I got my 2nd one used and for 70.And it was fine, still is.these probs about the lid..operator/install error.
