Whislte or humming sound?
Whislte or humming sound?
One morning when warming up the car I got out and noticed the exhaust was whistling, rather loudly. When the car warmed up and the rpm dropped to normal, the whistle went away, so I paid no attention to it and I haven't noticed it since. However, while driving today I noticed that with the radio off I hear a quiet whistling from the rear (windows up) if I JUST BARELY apply the throttle. I don't hear the sound when off the throttle or when I am on the throttle but the exhuast is probably too loud for me to hear it if its there.
So my question is, is this normal and if not what should I be looking for?
The car has an SLP lid and SLP Loudmouth exhaust. Other than that, the engine and drivetrain is stock.

I'm not sure what you mean by tire kickers, but I have owned this car for over a year and this is the first time it has done this. I have owned V8 GM cars since I was 15 years old. I am not some noob.
I am thinking that best case its a natural frequency of the loudmouth that I have never noticed before or it could be an exhaust leak. Then again, the two instances could be completely unrelated and it could be rearend noise or the fuel pump. I am wanting to get peoples opinoins, useful ones.
Kraest, you are the reason F-body owners get a bad rap.

why does every post deviate so quick ?
if you are hearing an exhaust noise from the rear take a look around all of the connections of the exhaust pipe/muffler/cat etc., and see if there is any evidence of build up… as it could just be a loose connection especially if there was recent work done to the exhaust; but hard to tell

Well guys I think it was just the fact that it was the first time I had gotten up early in the morning and my mind was playing tricks on me (getting ready for real life instead of college life). I am very very **** about my car so I am quick to think something isn't percfect. In reality, I think it was just road noise as I recently inflated my tires to a higher pressure than normal and my wheel/tire combo has always made some noise. With the new pressure, it just made a slightly different noise than normal.
I have got to stop being so ****. Sorry for wasting your time.
