Wheel size

Just a general question for anyone. Im debating whether to get 17x9 rims. With a 275x40x17 it adds almost 2 inches of rubber on the road. But over all the wheel size is the same as the 245x50x16. Is this a worthwhile thing to do?? It didnt seem to be when I orderd my car. But SLP has a great deal on takeoffs now that they are into stang parts.

How cheap are they now? Personally, if I went to the expense to change wheel size I would go with 18's. But if it's a really good deal on the 17s...

why add rubber?
rubber = friction
friction = slower

thats for straight line tho.. autox could prolly use the extra rubber.. .but I for one dont like more rubber than I need.. .245's hook me well enough.
