Whats the purpose of switching to LS6 style PCV on LS1's?

Whats the purpose of switching to LS6 style PCV on LS1's?

Just what it say, just kinda wondering. Does it have something to do with oi consumption? Thanks

That or it may help with the whole oil in the intake issues. But, I'm not sure.

Helps reduse oil consumption due to PCV problems.

LS6 style PCV draws the crankcase gasses from the intake valley instead of the tappet covers. There's less oil mist in there. It requires changing the valley cover with slight grinding to the engine block and plugging off the tappet cover holes.

Wasn't there an updated PCV for the 98's (or pre LS6 intake)?
