That depends on how long you want the motor to live. In my opinion about 500 hp would be the highest that you could reasonably expect to reach and still expect the engine to have a "reasonable" life expectancy.

Yep.. it depends on a lot of things

500 is reasonable..

You could make a lot more.. How long will it last? Depends

There is no for sure way to answer this. you can ttt all you want but the answer will still be vague

l wouldn't call a rod through the block a "block failure". The rod failed and took the block out with it. With stonger rods maybe the block could take much more horsepower. I don't think I have ever seen a "block" fail on a stock bore LS1. I'm sure it happens but it is rare. Maybe someone who has had the block fail will chime in.

depends on what you consider the block failing too...there was a guy on ls1tech running a blower and popped a head gasket and took a piece of the block with it...so technically the block failed along with the head and gasket...and saying you had stronger rods isnt always the anwser when your talking about parts rotating at 6000 rpms sometimes things just let go...in that case a lighter rotating assembly might be in order.

theres been a few that have exceded 500rwhp and were reliable and lasted.harlan is one example.if you lower your CR itll take alot more than that on a stock block which was what was meant im assuming.

stock block

i dynoed at 534rwhp, 610 at the crank but like all the others hae already said, it was a matter of time. stock lower end lasted me 3 months or about 6 hours of use. was fun while it lasted tho.
