Whats a fair price on a stock low milage ls6

I have this guy that has a 03 z06 ls6 with 32k miles on the motor. I am getting everything minus the fuel rails and wiring harness, I am going carburator. What is a reasonable offer on this motor. I don't want to insult the guy or get ripped off.

Thanks Mark Tisdale

A few thousand, but you can get a forged 402 LS2 shortblock for right under $4000.

Doesn't make any sense going that route unless you're getting it for much cheaper.

I'd say in the 2-3K range would be reasonable, but I'm not sure when you say everything do you mean just the engine w/ accessories etc., or do you mean engine + tranny??

Prsonally, I would search and study ebay for a few days to see what the end bids are vs/ the buy it nows and whatnot. Then make my starting offer to the guy based on what I find there.... but that is just my 0.2

Okay heres the deal, the guy actually said he wants around $3300+ My buddy checked out the motor and it comes with everything. I am talking the starter, alternator, water pump. oil pan etc... The whole accessory. It also includes the injectors, fuel rails, tb, etc. Just no engine harness. It looked like he just pulled it from the z06...

I am thinking this is a pretty good buy and I could sell the stuff I don't need...

Just for comparison, a NEW LS6 longblock with a 12 month/12K mile warranty from GM is $5300 shipped from most sponsors.

If he's asking $3300 plus go with Kraest's suggestion...

You'll be much happier for not really that much more.

Although, I see if you're swapping out the LT1 you might need alot of the odds and ends taht can add up as well. Just depends on what you want out of the car.

This motor is going into a 63 chevy II

Well if I go with the 402 for $4,000, that doesn't include oil pan, pump, drivetrain, heads etc etc etc. I am just going to get this ls6 sell what I don't need and just throw a carb on this sucker...

Please accept my apologizes: I usually cut and paste my text into word to double check, but I was rushed that day and was typing fast due to somebody at the door

I would like to say what Al is saying here is an extremely important thing: we should write posts in proper sentence and follow grammar etc., I say this because I am teaching/researching (math) at a university. Further, over the last few years I have seen that “short hand” and online made up words are becoming a really big problem in our society and essentially causing some students not to be able to accurately rely ideas in writing. don’t even get me started on how kids can not compute 7x9 without a calculator anymore

Anyways, thanks for bringing this up and I encourage you to reinforce this and hopefully it will be a little part in fixing the problem

I never even give a thought to a couple of typos. We are all human, I hope. But when it takes several minutes for me to decipher the meaning of a post I start to think: "how is this effecting this forum?"
