whats the best transmission fluid to use for the 4l60E transmission? what do u guys perfer?

 

I use EXACTLY what the manufacturer recommends per the warranty. I have also heard that synthetic isn't that great on new(er) tranny's. Keep researching though, to verify or disprove...

PS- had my first Ed Debevic's in Chi-town after a horrid night of fun on Rush St. about 15 years ago. Still remember the hangover and how welcome the World's Smallest Sundae's were. Good times!!!

 

its really hard to move the shifter into gear when its cold outside below 60 degrees F. Any ideas how to make it easier? Synth fluid, diff shifter, ???

 

Below SIXTY??? Hum, that's not very cold. I didn't notice any troubles during winter on my tranny. Maybe a block heater would help keep things warm and also help your tranny at start up temps??? Or maybe your tranny fluid is warn and just needs replacing? That's weird though, because 60F isn't that cold for the temp range(s) the fluid can handle.

I just had the tranny rebuilt in May, u think I should take it back to them to have it checked out?

 

99% of manuals shift a little rough when cool after a little driving they get better. 1- Fluid is thicker 2- Fluid is all laying on the bottom

 

Yeah thats what I thought cause its only after the car has sat for a while and it gets worse if its not hot outside. But after a few shifts and the car warms up its not a problem.
