What Is Wrong With My Car
What Is Wrong With My Car
I just got it tuned on friday (22nd) cause it would idle horrible, it runs much better now but still the RPM's drop to around 400 when i start it up, that happends maybe 1 out of 5 times i start it,
i think i have a bad o2 sim, would that mess it up?
you can look at my mods if you think something else could mess it up
Is it possible i need to wait a bit after the tune before its all good? it seems to be getting better by the day but i still want it to start perfect.

The stock tach can be somewhat inaccurate, My car used to idle at 400-500 rpms b4 the 3.73 gears, now its like 800 rpm. I would say dont worry about it. Stock tachs on any car can be innacurate by about 200-300 rpm.
ya i agree stock tachs are off but he has a gauge face which means his needles were taken out and put back in....they are precise with the use of autotap....his car really goes down to 400rpm from 1000rpm......its messed up?????
ANYONE HAVY ANY THOUGHTS?????
ANYONE HAVY ANY THOUGHTS?????
its not normal with o2 sims cuz i have them and mine idles perfectly......
the question is can the idle be bad due to bad o2 sensors and sims????? maybe both of u have the same problem???
what mods u have luke?
how old are your sims?
do u ever get any ses trouble codes?

You might wanna grap a q-tip, and some WD40 and clean off your MAF sensor wires VERY CAREFULLY! Maybe they have oil/grime on them.
ive looked at my MAF connectors, they seemed fine to me, i had a service engine light on a couple weeks ago, i think the code was for o2 sims, but it just turned off one day....??
i dont know whats wrong maybe ill hook it up to a friends auto tap and see whats going on.

No ses light, like I said just once in a while it sounds like its going to die out for a couple of seconds. My setup is basically a lid gutted cats and borla catback open half way. The o2 sims are about a year old.
OMFG THAT HAPPEND TO ME!
My situation was a little worse though. Let me explain.
When I test drove my car at the dealer, everything worked fine. After I bought her, taking her home, I noticed the speedometer wasn't working - at all. It sat at 0 when I was probably going 40.
Continuing... later that night I had friends over to check my car out. I turned it on, let it idle, and a few seconds later my car sounded like it was dying. I was like what....the....***....? My SS which was BRAND new was doing this to me. I sat inside and looked at the rpms. It went down to 200 (sounded like it almost shut off), then, as if it was trying to revive itself, jumped back up to 800 or so, then back to 400, then down to 200, and shut off. It shut off. I took it to the dealer, to have it looked at. I told them the problem, and they checked my performance chip (it had a jet performance chip for some reason) and asked if I put it on.
"No, why?"
"This chip isn't even made for your car, it's messing with some sensors."
So they took it out and replaced it. It hasn't happend since...until recently. On my way home from the gym, I turned on the car and it started doing that ****. I figured it was cold and needed a second but nope. I'm gonna take it in again to get it looked at once more, and my stupid pos gas mileage checked as well.
That's what happend with mine, not sure with yours though, unless you have a chip as well. Take it in and tell them what's wrong with it, they'll find the problem eventually.
