what would it take to swap my LT1 out with an LS1?
what would it take to swap my LT1 out with an LS1?
Ok i have a 1996 Trans Am 6 speed. I want to put a LS1 in. what would it require? besides the engine, tranny and an LS1 Kmember..and it should bolt in fairly easy no?-Mark
Re: what would it take to swap my LT1 out with an LS1?
money.....but why bother? if you want an LS1, sell your car and buy one. if you just want more power, get a heads/cam/exhaust setup for the cost of the LS1 that will put 380hp to the wheels.

Re: what would it take to swap my LT1 out with an LS1?
i have heads/cam intake and im making more than 380rwhp....but i still want an LS1...im greedy for more power on motor and im at about the limits with my LT1/4
I'm always wary of 4th gens with round headlights or ram air packages: they're obvios LSx cars. But who expects an LT1 formy to be packing a relatively tame sounding small block and be throwing down 450hp or so to the wheels? Hell, half the punks in souped up Neons don't even realize my Formula isn't a V6!
You'll need all of that and also need a PCM, etc.
