What will an engine rebuild cost?
What will an engine rebuild cost?
My car has 110k miles on it. While I'm not ready to rebuild it yet. I may after another 20k miles. So I was wondering what a nice rebuild would cost. Nothing crazy but a good 400 horsepower motor would be great. That's basicaly the area I want to beef the motor up to 400-425 horses. Whatever it takes to get there.

Considering that I had just kept it stock bore and ran the stock pistons from (94 GM 350), it can run you anywhere from $ 300 for parts and if you rebuild, no labor.. But if you want/need to have the block Bored out, then you will need new pistons, and if you want to make your lower end nearly indestructable, look at around another $ 1200 - 2000 for a Forged Crank and Forged Rods... Then the oversize pistons will be another $ 600 + and rings will be another $ 120 +...
I don't know how your engine was taken care of before you bought it, but chances are you might be able to get away w/ just changing the rings, Rod Bearings, Crank Bearings and all gaskets... Which would be $ 300 - 500 or more depending on how much the gasket set is for the LS1, Rings and Bearings run... I am not too sure on the pricing of the LS1 since my car has only 17,500 miles and it is my first time ever owning an LS1 and I don't want to go and void my Factory and Extended Warranty Now...
