What are some good - Basic Mods for the LS1

My cousin just picked up a 2001 WS6 - A4. I owe him some favours so I was going to pick him up some parts to give him a little more power.

Also are there any free mods for the LS1's? Thanks

Cool

Tell your cousin congrats on the new purchase! I guess it depends on how much money you are looking to spend on "basic" mods. An induction lid is a great place to start. You can pick up some nice horsepower in 10 minutes or less. An exhaust cutout is also another cheap mod that will pick up a few HP. One of the best free mods to do is the free ram air. It consists of cutting the bottom out of the lower airbox/radiator support. Be sure you leave a lip around the edge for the filter tray to still sit in, though. I track-tested this mod on my '02 SS in the July heat and gained .11 and 1.5 MPH in the 1/4! All it takes is a hack saw or Dremel. The throttle body bypass mod is something to consider, too. It will keep the hot coolant from running through the throttle body, so it can help to keep the incoming airflow cooler. You could always pick him up a set of the new PaceSetter long tubes for $239.99 and 3" off-road y-pipe for $120.99, but I guess that would depend on how good of a cousin he is.

Let me know if I can help you out.

Thanks!

Trevor

I would say get him a set of loud mouth exhaust and a lid they will run you about 300 for both and will give him a great sound and some well needed breathing for the LS1 he will definatly be impressed

Thanks Guys. I really appreciate the help. I am sure these mods will keep him happy for a while Although he does get bored fast, his last car went through 4 Engine Combinations and 3 different blowers last year. At the end of all that he parted it out.

He is a great cousin more like a brother, although he has had his eyes on a set of FLP's, but I can't afford those
