what is needed to do a Ls6 intake

OK so I want to do a new intake on my ls1 and people say ls6 is a good cheap one to do, but then some kid just told me to switch from the ls1 to ls6 you have to do alot of stuff because the ls6 has two things the ls1 doesnt which one is the egr or something like that. It sounds like a bunch of bull **** to me, but I just like to make sure of things. Thanks

you have to remove the EGR

basically just take the unit out and put a $10 block off plate on the passenger side manifold. it will throw a code for it, but it won't affect the operating condition of the engine.

you'll also need the LS6 coolant pipes that are about $35 from various places. i got mine from www.paceparts.com

You dont have to remove the EGR if you don't want to. They sell parts on ebay for the coolant lines and the EGR modification.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LS1-L...spagenameZWDVW and here is one for the EGR http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LS-LS...spagenameZWDVW

Here's what I used:

1)LS6 intake with the bottom webbing dremeled out to clear pipes.
2)New intake port gaskets (unless the ones on the intake manifold are in decent shape)
3)Block-off plates to remove EGR system.

so to put on the LS6 intake manifold, we basically can just block off the EGR and grind out the bottom of intake so coolant lines clear?

wouldnt grinding the bottom of the intake weaken it? that is, however much is being grinded out

Yeah I wouldn't do it that way myself. Just my personal opinion. If those ribs served no purpose then they wouldn't be there in the first place. I would just buy the LS6 block off plugs and front crossover tube.
Now with the F.A.S.T. intakes you need the LS6 kit anyway.
