How much HP?

A guy here with an LT1 TA claims his 12 sec car (bolt ons) can
lift off in first gear (a4)

Check out the issue of gmhtp with the lt1 bolt on shootout, there was a 13sec car that was lifting a wheel. With a manual trans its gonna take a lot more than an auto, reason being that the converters in the autos give the motor "torque multiplication" which essientally can double to triple the amount of torque the motor actually has on launch, m6s can do this.

could you just get coilovers and then jack the rear end all the way up, then launch like there is no tomorrow on slicks

just my thoughts,

mike

12 bolt 4:10 or better full slicks nitrous and a big solid driveshaft you'll lift them off the ground. Why you would want to is beyond me cause it will slow you down and if you get high enough will do some serious damage to your car.

HA go watch the super stocks baby. there is no better crowd pleaser then the super stocks pulling 2+ foot wheel stands and still running 10 seconds. Slow times? when u run 10's with a 2+ foot wheel stand let me know.

Wheelies are for the crowds, and while they are cool, do actually slow the car down compared to what it could run.

You want your momentum going forward, not up. This momentum lost to pulling the wheels UP should be converted to going straight ahead. Sure, you may not gain much, but there is some to be gained by keeping the wheels ON the ground.
