What heads/cam combo?

Hey guys, just thinkin about using some tax money and doing a h/c set up on my SS. I've been searching around and see alot of different set ups. Just looking to see what everyone recommends or opinions on a set up. it's a 00 ls1 with longtubes, off road y pipe, lid, pulley, ls6 intake, 4.10's and n20. It's not a daily driver but I want to keep it drivible and reliable. I also don't wanna break the bank setting it up either. Any suggestions?

I am looking at either LE2 heads from elliotportworks or patriot LS6 stage II heads with about a 226-228 cam but a nitrous cam will work better for you. I am looking at those because they flow just as good as the more expensive dart or afr heads but are about half the price if you budget minded for your set up.

keep in mind, flow numbers aren't everything. those more expensive heads are more expensive for a reason. better/new/non GM castings and the AFR's especially have excellent velocity. there's nothing wrong with budget heads (i run a set) but expect them to leave some power on the table compared to the big boys.

Buget is what you will have to decide. I don't think that you will leave too much on the table know matter what you choose. The 4:10's are really going to help you out in your cam choice. Take a look in the ls1tech dyno section and see what some have come up with.
Remember that having everything set up is also very much a part of the equation. Quench, dynamic compression, can make a big difference in your end number.
Good luck, and do alot of reading before you make your desiction. You can always look at the used section of some of the forums.
