What header bolts to use?

So my friend lost the header bolts that came with the pacesetters LTs for the LQ4 swap we have done to his T/A. I've been researching and I keep getting different reviews and part numbers on which ones to use. So which ones would you guys recommend we use? Part numbers would really help us out. Thanks in advance guys.

I personally would never use a split lock bolt in aluminum. The split could maybe catch some aluminum when you try to remove them and pull the threads out.

Re: What header bolts to use?

You back out the hex screw in the center of the bolt before removing. The instructions specifically state not to try to unscrew bolt without doing this. I can't see how you would do any damage if done properly.

There is no guarantee that after several years of being expanded that they will collapse completely when the screw is retracted.
I have no problem with you using them. I won't.
I'm 59 years old and have worked in the mechanical industry for my whole life and have learned that when Murphy states that whatever can go wrong will is soooooooooo true. So I won't take the chance when there's another solution that has no risks such as the Stage 8 locking header bolts.

Re: What header bolts to use?

I have had them in my lt1 for over a decade ....left them in for 5 years without removing them and I have had no issue with them sticking ..even with the high EGT in my LT1 I see no issue ... Also no leaky headers

I dont like the locking tab on the stage 8....

Re: What header bolts to use?

I have stage 8 on my Lt1, blew a pacesetter header gasket after about two years. However it has been fixed and things have been good ever since!

Edit: Forgot I was in the LS1 area, I figure the rule still applies.
