Re: what exhaust for 2000 ss camaro

i have gmmg (albeit on an lt1) but it sounds awesome throughout the whole range
it is 700$ though (i got mine on a gp so that's the only way i could afford it)
gmmginc.net

if you want cheap though, get a dmh electric cutout
the guy who makes them actually lives near me and they're a nice piece of work
forget how much they run but summitracing.com sells them

I got Hooker LTs with customizable inserts in the collectors. You can "tune" the car to how you want it to sound by adding plates with holes to the ends of the inserts. Bigger holes equals more sound. From there it's just Hooker off road Y and an Edelbrock muffler with the SLP dual/dual outlets. Sounds pretty mean

You can get the inserts from Jegs for $44 a piece. They're made by CCI.

Re: what exhaust for 2000 ss camaro

I paid around $320 delivered including the smoked chrome tips (kick a$$ but optional) The sound is just a little louder then stock at idle (I have an m6 so it idles lower the the auto) but above 2k rpm its nuts. With the ttops out and going through a tunnel or under an overpass makes you smile from ear to ear. Before I bought mine I found a couple clips on the internet. They sounded good but did not do it justice. The real thing is much better. Its not raspy or high pitched like the loudmouth or even open cutouts can be. I enjoy the car much more since this install.

Thumbs up Re: what exhaust for 2000 ss camaro

When I bought my 2000 SS, I knew right away the stock exhaust had to go but was unsure what to replace it with. I listened to all kinds of different systems on other people's LS1's over the course of a year, and when I heard the GMMG system, I knew that was it. There was a Group Purchase recently on another board where I bought it and it is truly a well made piece and sounds great.

I'm new to exuast. It seems alot of people dog Flowmaster? Not sure why. I have a 98 SS and just replaced the factory muffler with a 40series single in single out (2.5 in.) and used the same chrome tip. It looks great, sounds even better and improved throttle responce abit. All this for $60.

People dog Flowmaster because the don't flow as well as other aftermarket cat backs.
For instance a buddy has a modded 12 second LT1 Formula with Flows and gains .2 and 2 mph by uncapping his cutout.
They do sound good. My 3rd gen daily driver has a Flowmaster cat back and IMHO it sounds great.

Crap, that's what it'll sound like with out some dampening. I have Dynatech LTs with 2 1/2" OR y-pipe, loudmouth with a bullet muffler in the I-pipe and resonator tips. It's not quite as bad, much of the rasp is knocked off, but it's nothing that I'd daily drive either.
