What do i need for a 98 SS a4 tranny service?
I have got a 98 SS with about 21k miles. Time for a trans change. It has never been done before. What fluid is recommended for the change? Should i spend the extra on redline or b&m trick shift fuild? Is the pan gasket reuseable?
Thanks

Well you are going to need a Transmission Filter Kit, goto your local parts store and buy it. When I goto service my transmission, I would either use regular ATF or I would look into Royal Purple's ATF. I have not used the B&M Trick Shift or Redline but it is up too you.. I have seen on Horsepower TV where they changed Engine Oil, Tranny Fluid and Rear End Oil with all Royal Purple and gained 8 HP at the rear wheels when they ran a Camaro z28 w/ M6 on a Dyno before and After.. The Trans Filter Kit comes with a new Gasket, Filter and a new Filter Grommet.. You should not have to change the filter grommet unless it is damaged or the Filter is not tight after installation. Another suggestion would be to pick up a B&M Drain Plug since when you have the Trans Pan off, you might as well install one since it would be less messier when you have to service the trans afterwards.
