What cam for my TA?

My 99 TA is basically stock. It has a lid, and AIR/EGR removed, and was tuned by CAM. He removed the torque management, ect. All the annoying things. Anyway, I am interested in getting
a cam for it. I don't want to do heads or exhaust right now. I just want a cam that is suitable for daily driving, and a 30+hp increase

I already have a heads/cam car, and I know what kind of trouble they can be, lol

I know someone that is selling the LS1 HOT cam. Is there anything else I should be looking at? My LS1 knowledge isn't as good as it should be.

Thanks!

A nice street friendly cam to consider is the 220/220 114 lsa. It's supposed to give a nice gain but still maintain a smooth idle and excellent street manners. But if it were me I would take a serious look at the 224/224 114 lsa. With a good tune this will still pass emissions and be streetable. It's a very popular cam in the LS1 community.

But you won't get the full gains without headers and a catback. You should take a look at speed inc's website. Just google search speed inc and it's the top one that comes back. They got a great rundown on cams in the valvetrain section. You can also call them and get some personal recommendations from one of the techs.

Good Luck

I see you have an auto like I do. I was nervous with going to big with an auto, and since I had never driven a cammed car before I probably went a little more conservative than I had to. However I am on stock tune and stock torque converter. I am very happy with the MTI T1 (221/221 .558/.558 112lsa). No surging and no SES light. I love it, plus it lopes really well. Good luck!

Thanks for the comments guys!

I know that w/o full exhaust, ect. I won't get the complete benefits. But, I am on a budget w/ this car, and I know what quality full exhaust costs. I have my 95Z which is completely done
as far as cam, heads, exhaust, tuning, ect.

It would be nice to be able to put a cam in, and not have to worry about a torque converter, ect.

I will do some research, thanks for the info
