What is the best exhaust

Ok I live in nashville tn and we have emissions here but my grandfather has a house in another county about an hr from here which I was thinkin of going up there to register my car there cause they dont have emissions so I could do true duals is that the best setup and is it worth the hassle of going to another county to register so i dont haft to worry about emissions and if I do the true duals what is the best headers to go with it.

Ya, go long or go home! And get the headers coated. I personally am a Borla fan, I like the pop it gives from time to time. Plus you can put an electric cutout in it, and silence it up pretty good when you dont feel like hearin it. Great warranty too, but still pricey brand new. But as far as whats "best", its all opinion for the most part.

What emissions do you have to pass? We have it here also but its just a scan for codes on OBD II cars.

i think the real question is what are your goals?

if you are looking to do basic bolt ons...with no heads/cam in the future...than a basic long tubes/orp/good exhaust will do you fine.

but if you plan to do a 450hp H/C setup...than the true duals will definatly outshine any other exhaust you could get.

basically...more info needed

I plan to do 450 plus and we have obdII for emissions but they stick a mirror under the car and look for the cats so you haft to have them to pass. What is the best place to get the longtubes and what kind of prices should i be looking to pay , how much of a hp gain do you think longtubes and true duals will get and thanx for all the info so far.

Re: What is the best exhaust

places for longtubes will just depend on what deals the vendors are running at any given time. watch the GP forum.

cheap uncoated LTs will start and about $250 and good stainless headers will be $750+.....and coated headers can be anywhere in the middle.

as for gains, what kind of car are you putting it on? one with just bolt ons or one with the h/c already on? as you increase power the amount of power you gain from the LTs and TDs will increase proportionately.

i say on a bolt on car...over bone stock exhaust... LTs and TDs are worth 25hp. similar to that of putting LTs and a good catback on, the exhaust (past the headers) is not a serious restriction at that power level.

i've read that people have seen 10hp in the upper rpm going from a catback to TDs on cammed engines
