i still dont understand why LT1 guys get defensive about their motors compared to LS1's. All things considered, LT1's were the peak of engine development when they came out, jsut like the LS1, and just like hte ls1, beat everything of its year. Sooo you LT1 guys... your engine still rocks, and it still kicks all *** of the same year and years before. But our engine is better... HA sorry i couldnt resist

Yes I have an LT1 and no Im not defensive. Stock LT1 to stock LS1 is like compairing apples to radishes they arn't even in the same group. The LS1 is a completely different engine. Different in almost every way. If I do an engine swap I will be going for a vette stroker LT1 Seriously Why not an LS1? Because an LS1 is about the same price as an 383 LT1 stroker + I think the LS1 looks ugly as sin and I don't want to have to add engine covers to make the bay tolerable.

A 4 bolt mains is all you need for a bullet proof bottom end stroker motor build up. The LS1 guys go have fun with your $15,000+ car I'll be happy with my $4000 LT1, $8,000 jeep, $2,500 motorcycle and $500 to spend on beer... I get on road, off road, road rash and as drunk as I want with the same amount of money

My buddy just bought a 98 TA with 140k for $4250.

An LS2 402ci forged shortblock from SLP is less than $4000.

LS1 FTW!

Buddy of mine just bought a 98 m6 Formula with WS6 wheels and a Suncoast WS6 style hood for $6000 with 120k miles on it. Threw a lid, loudmouth, and 4.10 at it and ran 13.003.

What you may notice is what "feels" like less low end, but then when you hit the higher RPM's, you'll **** your pants!!! The LS1 pulls like crazy up top, where the LT1 starts to fall on its nose around ~5000 RPM. I've driven a '96 T/A A4, and a '97 Z28 M6. They both go really well, no doubt, but my LS1 has run a 13.0 @ 107 with the mods in my sig (still with the A4) compared to the Z28 that ran 13.7 @ 100 mph, and the T/A that ran only 14.6 @ 96 mph. You do the math. Even on the highway, I pulled away from the '97 Z28 like he was standing still, from a ~70 mph roll!!

Well...they were bad drivers then. My 2nd 93 TA went 13.4@106 on street tires,CATBACK(no headers) CAI and 1.6 sa rockers and a horrible clutch(stock clutch grinding) with a 2.2 60' time. And my car now before I started the turbo build pulled(walked away from) a C6 with exhaust..and I had stock rear gears..just heads/cam LTs

Re: Well i never thought it would happen...

ok for the **** idiots..the tranny was starting to grind cuz the clutch was on its way out. and

heads/cam/long tubes/tune/30lbs injectors/hardend pushrods/clutch/timing chain(only)and an assortment of gaskets..better? NO: CAI/TB/MSD/F.pump/ gears..nothing else...basically..heads/cam/exhaust
