hey guys installed asp underdrive pulley, and now every once in a while I hear a weird sound like something hissing or something. Car runs fine, nothing seems to have a problem, and if I give it a little gas sound goes away. Anyone experience this or have any ideas? Thanks.

 

hmm....tensioner pulley have a bad bearing? can you isolate the origin?

 

teke, what do you mean by isolate the origin? You know that big underdrive pulley? Sounds like it is coming from that area.

 

well..."from that area" could still be several things.

find a piece of flexible tubing and use it as a stethoscope to listen for the EXACT origin.

if it is in deed the underdrive pulley i would think maybe a bad belt (even if it's new) or jsut some break-in
maybe the paint needs to be worn off or soemthing like that.

you sure you got it aligned properly?

 

I did it myself. How do I know if it got aligned properly? It doesn't make this noise ALL the time, just comes and goes. I figured maybe it was something with it wearing in. Can't think of anything else. Have driven over 300miles so far, and everything seems fine.
