Way to improve

Hey guys last summer I lost a race to a mid 12' s 69 Camaro. The race wasn't a blowout but it was clear he beat my ***. I was wonderin what mods I could do to make up some ground and improve it's important to me to catch up. Here's the list of mods I have that I am going to save up for and buy this winter.
1. Pacesetter Lt's ory? Bc/ no inspection hookup
2. A pair of stickies either bfg or nittos used or new doesn't matter as long as I can get a good amount of runs
3. ASP Underdrive Pulley
4. Hpp3 predator not available and no way I cud afford a lap top for ls1 edit
I'm going to save up for the headers first after that there is no specific order for these mods. I'm gunna buy them over the winter and get them installed in the spring when it gets warm out ne suggestions? TC is down the road lookin at external mods for now. I will have a winter beater very soon so it'lll only b a summer driver

i would go with...\

1 - long tubes w/ orp (as suggested)
2 - 3.73 gears to help out the A4
3 - stickies (as suggested)
4 - suspension parts to help hook better - lca, torque arm or poly bushing at least.
5 - torque converter
6 - hpp3 if you get the gears

why do you think you need the Hpp3? the tune really doesn't help much, unless you need it for gear/fan/tire changes.

oh and don't forget the cheap stuff, 160* stat and tb bypass

I'd got with a mild cam, LT's and a 3500+ converter w/shift kit and ls1 edit tuning this should get you into the low 12's on sticky tires.

An aftermarket torque arm is a total waste of money until you have enough power to break the stock one.
There are many people running 1.5 to 1.6 60s and 11 second 1/4s with the stock arm. Me included.

for the lca and other suspension mods...look into BMR fabrication they are high quality, WELL priced, and you get your choice of colors.

i installed the ASP pulley but i really couldn't notice any difference. i know LS1 speed did a dyno run with it, and got something like 8hp/8tq with it, which is definatly nice but that would be difficult to feel iin real life.

it's up to you as to whether it's worth the $225+ for it.

The first thing to look at is if there is any room for driver improvement. Judging by your times, it looks like you're doing alright but it never hurts to talk to other racers and see what works for them.

Next, get traction. There are guys running high 12's in their stock LS1 cars with good traction. Don't forget to get some subframe connectors. This is my problem at the moment. Lack of traction is killing my ET.

After that, for an auto would have to be converter and gears. Nothing like a little torque multiplication. I'd go with converter over gears even. The LS1 just seems to respond very well to a higher stall.

Pulleys are questionable, for $200+ and 8 hp you cold do other things like get a good tuning.

I'm not a big fan of N2O, but reality is that the dry systems are relatively cheap and effective. Just in case you need that exta boost to win.

Good luck.

I bought my car 6 months ago... I don't understand why my trap speeds are faster than many other LS1 cars with the mods I have listed. I think the pulley adds more than you think. Cause I can't figure out anything else that is gaining me power.

did you have the speaker box in the car when you went racing? Otherwise 108 is possible with your mods and the m6...otherwise i think some tracks time the mph differently i know at our tracks it takes the avg of the last 60' if im not mistaken...but really it doesnt sound that far off with gears, lid, exhaust i mean i trapped at 105+ with lid and exhaust im sure a stick and gears could grab a few more mph at the top end.

I'm at full weight and then some. Speaker box, amp all that was in the car, w/ SFC and STB. My speedo reads around 108 when i cross the line, I believe it is the trap speed, not any avg.

I have the smashed y-pipe and a section of 2.5" pipe in the middle of my exhaust also... that can't help... lol

maybe its the tint and red calipers then kinda like stickers...probably grabbed another 20hp jk honestly i dunno it might be the timing system it might be your car has a few extra ponies...i mean ive seen ls1's dyno from 295-315 at the wheels stock so who knows you might have the upper end of that plus the few mods you have maybe get you a good trap.
