Water temp gauge for 2001 Camaro SS

Purchased an Auto meter elect water temp gauge. Anyone know if I can get an accurate reading by splicing into the GM water temp sending unit or do I have to use the sending unit from Auto meter? If I have to use the sending unit from Auto meter, what is the best way to install?

You can't tap into the stock sender, it will give you the inaccurate readings. What gauge did you get? They come with senders, mine did (Ultra-Lite CF). You can put the sender in the head by the #8 cylinder, which is damn near impossible, or, you can put it in the plug above the starter, this spot requires an adapter to fit, M16x1.5 I believe is the right size.

E-mail me if you need more help.
