Question warping brake rotors

I've had my camaro for 2 years now. After a year of use, when I would brake from highway speeds, the car would start shaking due to my rotors being warped. I guess braking at high speeds tends to get so hot that your rotors warp.

I had my rotors re-machined and a year later now they are shaking at high speeds again. If I install aftermarket slotted or drilled rotors, would this solve my yearly rotor warping problem?

im going to start a thread on LS1 cross drilled rotor.
See how many people have had theirs cracked...

KVR and Powerslot sell good sets that resist warping.
If you dont really care about looks stick with blank/flat rotors or Slotted rotors.

Cross drilling is just for looks and prone to cracking because when u drill through the metal you've disrupted the grain structure. Each hole is a stress point. thats why many have theirs cryo treated so they resist cracking/splitting. They really dont help u in anyway other than looking good. Probably hurt your stopping actually.
Slots are alright though.

My friend Cory runs KVR cross drilled rotors. 3 months now and they havent cracked.

You could get cross drilled and slotted rotors, or you can just be easier on the brakes. The brakes should not and will not warp if you are braking conservitavely. When I got my car the rotors were warped on all corners so I invested in a set of Sure Stop cross-drilled and slotted rotors. I have done some very hard braking on these suckers and they are still fine. Plus they look pretty cool.

Another solution, cheaper one, would be getting the Aimco (Autozone) rotors next time they warp. I believe these are somewhat stronger than the stock ones and cost about $40 each for the front, $60 I think for each rear one.

The primary cause of warped rotors is not torqueing or having your lug nuts torqued. This problem is more common with road racers though but IMO it's a good idea to make sure they are torqued even on a daily driver to around 100 psi each.

Warped rotors is a common problem, do a search "brake rotors"

The AutoZone rotors seem to be good, they're 38$ a piece. We had the cut the rotors on my wife's Camaro and it took only 4 months and it was shaking again, just like you described. I installed the AutoZone rotors and everything is back to normal. I noticed that the little retainer clips are missing on my Z28 so I assume the pre-owner exchanged the rotors. Normally the rotors should last almost forever under normal circumstances... even if you're very hard on the brakes it shouldn't matter.
