Airbox lid is an easy 5 hp or so. I am surpised you have an exhaust with a stock lid still. Plus, you can do the cutout ender the lid to get a little more airflow.

I always liked the SLP lid for durability. There are a thousand different brands out there, and the cheap ebay ones can crack pretty easily sometimes. My last SLP went years without issues.

Pacesetter 1 3/4" Headers / ORY after you get a lid. Excellent HP for the $$$.

If it's an automatic get a SS3600 torque converter at a minimum, PT4000 if you plan to go with a cam soon.

Gears are a nice help, but I'd only do it if you can do it yourself. The parts are cheap, but labor is not. Unless you have a 2.73 car then get rid of those ASAP. 3.73 for A4, 4.10 for M6.

Next up would be a cam or a small shot of N20 depending on what you are comfortable with or want...

That is the one! Cold air kit is nice too. The lid is the big value though.

Re: wanting to add hp.

I have an 2000 SLP SS and I changed the exhaust to a SLP loudmouth 2, replaced the airbox and used a better air filter. I also added lower control arms, sub frame connectors and panhard bars as well as a new torque bar. I also added a cross brace under my hood. I left the motor stock and the car handles and moves great I cut about 3/4 of a second in my 1/4 mile time.
