Want to buy AC Delco rapidfires have a question
I want to get AC Delco rapidfires for my 2000 Z28. I went to autozone and they told me the part number on them is #12 is this right? Also, what would be the gap on these plugs? Im pretty much stock. Thanks
Re: Want to buy AC Delco rapidfires have a question
can't help you much but i will say this:
if they cost any more than $2 each...WASTE OF MONEY
buy some NGK tr55 plugs for $2 each (sometimes less) and be done with it.
stock gap is .60" but the plugs come gapped for .50" which is fine

no...i just have way to much time on my hands...and i'm a scientist..so i read ALOT...
and i've been around this board for a LONG TIME
glad i cold help
honestly...expensive plugs will gain you next to nothing...why spend $15 a plug when you can get all 8 plugs for the same price...
even if someone says the don't last as long...
8x$10 per plug =$80
8x$2 =$16x 5 changes= a good deal

Re: Want to buy AC Delco rapidfires have a question
NOTE: this experience is with the factory installed platnum plugs....take it as you will
when i changed plugs on my 55K mile LT1, 5 of the 8 platnum tips were missing from the plugs. this makes the gap somewhere along the lines of .80" when stock should be .50" i think.
when i changed plugs on my 52K mile LS1, 4 of the 8 plugs were missing the platnum tips.
the scary part is where did those plugs go?
plats or "hi-performance" plugs cost sometimes 4x what the NGK plugs do. maybe the NGKs don't last as long. but cost wise i can change them 4x as often and still only be spending the same amount. at $2 each i wouldn't think twice about changing plugs every 25k miles (i have headers so it's a 1hr job)

I'm running Bosch Plats (single electrode only none of that gimicky +2, +4 crap). ~$2/plug and NO disk to fall off. Other plat plugs have a plat disk that is prone to what teke mentioned.
