I have a 2000 Silverado Z71 ordered w/3.73's and G80 Locking rear axle! the truck is plenty fast but not fast enough
I heard a rumor that the 5.3 Vortec and the LS1 have a lot of interchangeable components. Can I put an LS6 Intake on my 5.3? Also I have the piston slap issue on my 5.3 I complained to GM they sent me to about 3 dealerships and then extended my warranty to 6/YR 100,000 Miles! so if I were you guys I'd really complain before your warranty wears out.

My car suffers the piston slap pretty good too, but I foresee the motor being worked over before 6 years is up. Actually, since my warranty is only for 4 years or 80,000 km, I'll only actually have ~2 years with it since I've already got over 20,000 kms in just over 6 months!!
I do a lot of driving
. So really, in 2 years, I'll probably have expired my warranty based on mileage, and by that point I'll be looking into really building it up strong (ie: heads, cam, stroker kit??
) so then warranty will be shot anyway!
In regards to the 5.3 -> LS1 similarities, AFAIK, they're both Gen-III style SBC's, so all the parts should be interchangeable. The only visible difference I've seen is how the trucks have the throttly body mounted on top of the intake (I think
) so I'm not sure if that means that the intakes are slightly different, or if you could still bolt on the LS6 intake and make everything fit??
Stuff like heads and cam are all interchangeable though.
many parts on the LM7 and LS1 are interchangable since they are both the gen III small block. i'd stick with the intake that came on the truck and lookin into pcm reprogramming and possibly more cam. shame you went with the standard gear though. the 3.73 isn't alot of gear in that truck which is why it's the standard gear. from what i've seen, headers pick up much needed lower end torque on the trucks.
