Question Vibration at 70 and higher

I have been experiencing some vibration when I reach 70 mph. It feels like the tires are hitting some rough spots in the road. While this is a possibility I haven't noticed it before. I have tried different stretches of road and get the same results. So I doubt its road surface. Tonight I tried it at 100. While the steering is good the tires still seem to vibrate getting more agitated at higher speeds.

I would guess the wheels and tires are out of balance. But I would like to hear if anyone else has an opinion.

I will be taking an eight hour road trip shortly and would like this problem resolved. Thanks everyone.

It could be warped rotors, mine vibrated going 60 mph and over, but really felt it when i tapped on the brakes.

Thanks, I had that problem too. I had the rotors turned about a month ago. They don't "wobble" anymore.

Go to your local tire store and have them balance your tires and you should be all set. You might wnat to have them check your steering and suspension components while you're at it.

Thanks for the input everyone

I had the wheels and tires balanced this morning. Resulting in a big improvement at highway speeds. The manager did point out that my tires have worn unevenly. Some feathering on the inside of the fronts and a slope on the outside on the rears. However, alignment feels fine.

Could new tires and rims be far behind. What are the most favored set of tires presently. I currently have BFGoodrich G-Force KDWs, not a bad tire. Maybe some BFGoodrich G-Force KDs.

Again thanks for the feedback.

The funny thing about alignment is that you don't necessarily feel it when it is out. In many cases you will, but there are also time when you won't.

By the description you gave it sounds like the toe is out a bit. Might not be a bad idea to rotate them a bit more often, too.

I really don't have much of preference on the tires. BFG's are good, but expensive. Just like Michelins and GY's. Many, not all, have been very satisfied with the Kumho Ecsta Z's.

Later!
