Cool Very First Mod

I'm getting a Camaro this weekend, 1999 Z28 M6 and I was wondering what the very first mod should be. It already has Corsa cat-back and K&N filter. I was going to leave the suspension alone for now. I'm wanna start under the hood. I was thinking a new airbox. But I don't know which one, Stealth, SLP, etc... Which would you suggest? Then another thing I want to get is the skip shift eliminator. Any other low priced ideas?

Thanks

I think most lids are pretty much the same, look around and see what one people seem to be the happiest with, I like my MTI lid just fine.
Oh, Texas Speed just realeased their lid and it looks pretty nice, here's the link: http://www.ls1tech.com/ubb/ultimateb...;f=24;t=006640

If the car still has the stock shifter, you need to get rid of it. A Pro 5.0 was the first thing I did and I'm very happy with it. It's a little noisy (not too bad though) but it feels great. If you want something a little quieter and a little "smoother", check out the B&M. I had one in my '96 and I liked it almost as much as I like my Pro 5.0.

In your case a lid. Doesnt matter which one they all work the same. Its your decision, whichever one you like. If you wanna spend some major $$ go with a KN FIPK, youll get about 22+ rwhp with that opposed to 10 rwhp with a lid, but since you already have a filter you might as well get the lid.

That Texas Speed lid looks sweet. Good price too. I'd go with that lid and the free ram air. Unless you want to spend for the KN FIPK. Deffinetly a new shifter too. Strut tower brace and subframe connectors when you can too. Later>>>>>>

Lose the filter.. go back to paper.. (you seem into power)

any.. I tested the MTI and the Stealth on the dyno.. MTI makes the same as the Stealth in my finding.. (review to be posted shortly)

Then another thing I want to get is the skip shift eliminator.
Does it bother you? Me personally, I am at 13K miles and it doenst bother me at all.
Any other low priced ideas?
Tires. While not super "low priced" what you get from them is very valuable. Tire alone gets you traction so you can use the power you have and not waste it.
Thanks

I would say lid first too. My car has the stock hurst shifter with a custom short stick and it works great for me..

As for the Texas Speed lid.. what is so special about the way it looks? Except for the decals on it I can tell no difference in it and my DirectFlo lid.

Getting a lid is a very good idea. Also look at a ported TB. And another cheap favorite of everyones is a cutout. My favorite is the QTEC from www.quicktimeperformance.com

Good luck with what you do.....And that Corsa system is great

Try the SLP cold air intake.Works great with the K & N filter you already have and a new lid if you get one.Good for about another 15 hp and it's only 129.95 if you buy it directly from SLP.

I dont see a ported TB making any more power on a non modded car.. and no, exhaust really isnt enough mod..

I'd stay away from tires. Drag radials are just begging to blow your 10 bolt.

First things i'd do are sub frame connectors and a shifter. Then a lid, then work from there.
