if your front subframe/K-member isnt damaged on your Z28 then the easiest way would be to drop it out and swap them over like that. I dont know how much of the wiring will have to be swapped, maybe all of it from the dash forward. I havnt done an LS1 yet but i do know the wiring will be specific for the speedometer/instrument cluster but Im not sure if the plugs are the same if you can just plug your engine harness and computer into whats there and swap Instrument clusters. as far as fitment, everything will fit right over. if your k members damaged you'll more than likely have to find another one... usually cheap at salvage. Everything should swap over between the two cars. You may want to swap rear ends too. Not that hard if you know the basics and have the tools/help to do it all. Im sure somebody else with more experience with the LS1's will give you more info.

from all the costs, everyone says you basically need a donor car to do it. If you cannot get one, sell the V6 and buy a z28.

Part out the wrecked Z28 on forum classifieds and EBay, sell the V6 car and pool the money to buy a LS1 F-body.

DAMN!!!!!?????????!!!!!!!!! does anybody work on their own cars anymore? or build thier own? If its what he wants to do then guide him if you can. dont jus come in and say "sell it/junk it buy one thats already done." What happened to "building your own car" making it mean something and actually have the know how to tear it down and make it into somethin else yourself..... not tryin to be a dick but come on people. he wants to build it so somebody thats done it with knowledge on his year of car, offer the guy some advice on how to complete his project.

--Thank you gtp for pointing him somewhere helpful--

I agree. I would be swapping the stuff that I already have. He has a complete donor car so he should be all set.
I do all of my own work except for engine machine work and the only reason that I don't do that too is because of the cost of the equipment.

I had a 97 RS that I've always wanted to drop an LS1 in however reality hit and the V6 started dieing long before I could conjure the funds to perform the swap and being it was going to be a daily driver, there was questions on its reliability so I settled for an LS1... ...However with a reliable daily driver and the funds, just for the heck of it and personal customization, I'd perform the swap in a heartbeat...
