Post Used Ls1 or supercharged Lt1

Ok I posted this in the Lt1 forum also but I want your opinion to should I fix my 94 or should I buy a used Ls1 car?

posting this here you're likely to get biased responses, but from what I gather, stock for stock, of course the LS1 owns. But then LT1s supposedly respond better to mods, are cheaper to mod, and will equal an LS1 that has the same mods. and an LT1, done up right, can send an LS1 packing. But overall, the LS1 has more potential.

Fix up the 94! Don't get me wrong...I love my car...72k miles of hard driving with nitrous and still no problems with it, but I wish I didn't have a car payment!

I love my LS1 because I know I'll never have to worry about an OPTI.

I went through the same thing when I had my LT1, I now wish 6 months later I kept my 96 and just procharged it with the money I put down on my LS1 car, partly cause my payment went up $150 a month, and I had only a year and a half to pay on the 96, so if the car is in good all round shape, put a super charger on it !!

Well, the main reason I sold my LT1 car was because it was seriously nickel and diming me to death. EVERYTHING that is known to possibly break on an LT1 car broke on that thing. Performance was not an issue, since my formula could run with LS1's (stock w/lid, etc), I just didn't want a car with almost 100K on it that would break at least every 2 months. If you have better luck than I did as far as opti, water pump, intake oil leak, etc, I'd say keep the '94. If not, go for the LS1. I'm happy with my choice.

depending on how much attention your lt1 really needs..

and also, how much hidden work (idealisticly none, but....) would the ls1 need?

What ever you do, don't be one of those people that stick a supercharger on an lt1 without headers and wonder why your car is slow! They are essential.

Look on www.KBB.com and you'll see that '98 LS1's go for as little as 12k from a private seller or 16k from a dealer. At least that's the value that KBB sets on them.Good luck.
