unusually slow track times?

I pull 1.9 60" times but only run a 13.3. I didn't think anything about this until a friend with a trans-am pointed out that my car should be a lot faster than that. I assumed it was my inexperience at drag racing.

the car has:
ls6 intake, smooth bellows, airlid, MAF, long tubes, no cats, offroad Y-pipe, gmmg exhaust, subframe connectors, control arms, 3.73's, vig 3200, shift kit, hypertech.

everyone who rides in it thinks it runs pretty well. my friend mentions that it might be my fuel injectors... does anyone have any ideas as to what my car should be running, and what might be wrong with it, if it is unusually slow?

Well, how is it compared to other f-bodies in your area. You should be setup to run mid 12's in good air with good traction. What was your trap speed?

Something ain't right man!? I've run better than that without LT's, and with stock stall?

What speed are you running? How about traction? I mean, a 1.9 60' is good, so you should be into the 12's (heck, I pulled a 1.9xx 60' time, and my car is on the border-line!? ).

What RPM are your shift points set at??? Oh, and are you running with the Hypertech "Power Tuning" ON or OFF?

get rid of the hypertech tune if you are running it...it very well could be slowing you down...

in your case i think it would only benefit you in shiftpoints, firmness, gear ratio and fan settings.

Re: unusually slow track times?

My highest mph ever was 105... but it's usually around 103. I run mostly at orlando speed world. the other day a stock trans-am ran a 13.? at 106...
which really makes me think that something isn't right....

on the hypertech, the shift points are stock because i didn't know where to put them... figured i'd leave well enough alone on that one... i am using the power programming... do y'all think i need to take that off?

i usually don't get to see other f-bodies run... there is one head/cam ls1 that ran a 12.7... but i dont really think he knew what he was doing... (judging from some of the stuff that he was saying)

Yeah, something is definitely not right w/your car. I would eliminate the hypertech tuning. I'll more than likely be at speed world tonight. Was it a black T/A that went 13.3 @ 106....might have been my buddy's car, but his is a 6-speed.

Re: unusually slow track times?

besides eliminating the hypertech tuning, what else can i do in hypertech to make my car not so slow? what do you think i should put the shift points at? etc? what else do you think could be contributing to this? a friend of mine mentioned injectors and that for the 2000's (that's what year mine is) they used smaller injectors. does anyone think this might be a problem?

apparently, i do spin off the line but only a little. (getting that fixed for christmas)

Re: unusually slow track times?

how much rwhp do you think my car will be making? there's a car show sunday at school and there will be a mobile dyno... we'll know there's something wrong if we think it'll make around 330 and i get like 250...

also, if i get my 60' down to around a 1.6, how much faster will i be in the quarter?

Re: unusually slow track times?

HP power tune + after market/ported MAF = knock retard = slow *** car.

Dump the power tune and dump your after market MAF.

Then get some sticky tires ... with your mods, you should be cutting mid to low 1.7 60's, running mid 12s at 107+ MPH.

well i'm planning to fix the hypertech tomarrow... but... i dont have my stock MAF... does the MAF just hurt performance because it messes with alll the computer stuff or is it a physical hurting of performance? will the aftermarket MAF help more when i get my heads/cam swap?

The MAF is a calibrated measuring device ... as soon as you mess with it, you change the calibration and it is no longer accurate. That mis-calibration, under some conditons, some times can show an improvement in performance ... but, for the most part messing with the MAF will cause you problems.

The stock MAF will serve you fine, even on a H/C set up.
