Underdrive pully

How effective is an Underdrive pully?

What would be the better mod: underdrive pully, or new gears?

Re: Underdrive pully

Gears will still be more effective...even in the 10-bolt. However, I've had my ASP pulley on for 4 years with no problems and it was probably worth the 8-10rwhp advertised.

Re: Underdrive pully

most gains....gears

easier to install....pulley

you probably won't feel the gains from the pulley, you'll definaately fell the gains from the gears, but you'll also need to get it programed to change the shift points or speedo...so the cost is alot more

Re: Underdrive pully

I did both and vote for gears by far. A little more money and time involved though.

Re: Underdrive pully

do the underdrive pulleys give less power to the AC and stereo? I want one but i don't want my AC to suffer.

Re: Underdrive pully

only thing that happens is when everything is on.AC,rear def. ect and im stopped the needle will go into the red zone but once im moving it goes back into the normal range.

unless you have a custom system you shouldnt have any stereo problems.you could always have your idle raised.i had mine raised slightly.

Re: Underdrive pully

cuz i do have a good sized stereo, and an Optima Yellow Top. I had the idle speed raised for my stall convertor, but don't want it too high.

I was told to get the alternator pulley if you are running a system, but it's not necessary if you are not. You should be fine if you get both.
