Twin Turbo Help
Twin Turbo Help
My buddy is having trouble finding less than 9 to 1 pistons so he can turbo his lS-1. Here is what I was wondering. I don't have anyone around that can answer my question. I have been told the LS-1 truck 6 liter motor has the same intake and exhaust runners as a LS-6 head. If this is true can you put the 6 liter head on a 2000 Vette LS-1 block and put a LS-6 intake on it? Secondly if you do that what is the compression ratio? Is there any hi-performance info out there on the LS-1?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

you may want to call a piston manufacturer. They should be able to anwser all of your questions any maybe even make you custom pistons for your applications. I think hte current high performance pontiac has an article on a piston manufacturer who makes custom pistons. Other than that I am no help to you.
There's an article on GenIII cylinder heads in GM High-Tech Perf (May 2003 issue). I'm sure this would answer all your head questions. In fact they recommend LQ4 or LQ9 6.0L truck heads for blown and turbo applications. The article gives you all the stats. Unfortunately I don't know what that crap means so i can't answer your exact questions.

are 6.0 heads different than5.3 and 4.8 heads?
i thought a 5.3 was a destroked 6.0 and a stroked 4.8
Trey, the 6.0L heads are basically Poorman's LS6 heads.
If you want to really have a good LS1 for boost, either call Thunder for some forged pistons that will lower your CR, or get a 6.0L Longblock (aluminum heads, cast # 317). Or you could do a search on www.LS1Tech.com
