TSP LID Gains

Hey guys, I just did a quick search on TSP lids and couldn't find numbers. Just debates between them and FIPK. Texas claims 20HP. Was wondering what you guys noticed. I have a completely stock car. I'm thinking of getting the lower WS6 airbox with a larger opening. Also I was looking at the other lids and looks like they claim 7-15 HP. So is TSP that much better, or is the 20HP number on a built car?

i gained 14.7 rwhp with the TSP lid AND a cutout. how much of that was the lid, i don't know. i should have capped the cutout and did a pull, but it never occurred to me to do that.

definitely wasn't any 20 rwhp...

the TSP lid looks like it might be better in theory but when we tested it it was the same as the aftermarket lid that was on the car before

most aftermarket lids are good for about 10-15hp

goes along with my theory that you cant really make a lid any better than any other.. and if you do its only by a small percentage (every mod is really based on a percentage) so having said so, the percentage is in direct relation to the power being produced.. so if it gives you say 5% and all the others give you 4% the difference wouldnt be notice able at 300hp.. (312 vs 315) but you bump the power output up then the difference starts to spread apart more..

I really think that a TSP lid will only pull the same as an MTI lid or any other.. maybe one day i will test that..

The WS6 lower air box will not fit on your Z28.

I asked about a week ago.

TSP is a good lid, but dont expect a 20 hp gain from a stock car. Maybe they got 20 hp from stock with a 500 hp motor or something. Realisticly you can expect 5 - 10 hp...

I have heard of people putting them on Z28s's. If memory serves, they had to move the box back slightly, though I dont know how they did it.

I think the problem is wiht the SS hood, because of the air channels

You are right the WS6 lower will work on all Firebirds and Z28s But NOT on the SS.

i tried to fit the ws6 lower box on my z and it hit my lid pretty hard, didn't slam it so i didn't break it. Visualy i don't think it will work on anything other than a WS6. Hodd is alot taller in the front. I could be wrong though.
